Extra Hitting Day added for Lazers Winter Camp

The Core Ritchie Neighbourhood Centre Gym has been booked on Saturday January 28th. The purpose will be to build on the hitting instructions from the January 15th and January 22nd sessions. In addition to the drills learned the pitching machine and hitting tunnel will be used.
Location: 445-14th Ave, Core Ritchie Centre Gym
Squirt: 8:30 AM to 10:00 AM
Pee Wee: 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM or 11:30 to 1:00PM
Bantam: 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM

Lazers Winter Camps 2012

The Lazers are pleased to once again offer Winter softball camps:

Peewee (born in 1999, 1998) January 15th - March 4th Sundays 6:00-7:45* Wilfred Walker School, 2102 Wagman Drive E.
Bantam (born 1996, 1997) January 15th - March 4th Sundays 6:00-7:45* Wilfred Hunt School, 101 Mayfield Rd.*
* See flyer (link below) for changes for hitting days, with guest instructor Nada Gorman, former National team player, on Jan. 15th and 22nd.

Cost is $20.00 per player, and is payable at the gym on the first night. If you are interested in registering your child(ren), please email the , and include your childs name, year of birth, and group (Squirt, PeeWee or Bantam) that you wish to register for. Spaces are limited.

Indoor facility available for Pitchers

We have booked gyms for Lazer Pitchers only. There is no charge but all pitchers must supply a "home plate" and a catcher. Note this is not an instructional session. Indoor softballs will be supplied as regulation softballs are not allowed in this facility.

Saturday February 25th 10:00 AM to Noon
Saturday February 25th, 12:30 to 2:30 Glen Cairn rec centre
Players are free to attend at any time but space is limited.


Hitting Clinics for U16, U18, and U21 Ages

Softball SK is hosting hitting clinics for U16(Bantam), U18(Midget) and U21(Junior) age groups on Feb 4th(Coaches only), Feb, 25th, and March 18th. See the registration form for more information.

CanPitch 5 Session Pitching Clinics, March 4-April 1st, 2012

Softball Saskatchewan is offering a 5 session pitching clinic that runs Sundays from March 4th to Apr. 1st, 2012, from 11:30am – 4:30pm. Please see the flyer for more information.

Competition Introduction Coaching Clinic(old Level 2) Scheduled

Softball Saskatchewan has posted the Regina dates for the level 2 clinics:
  • 1st Weekend Mar 3 & 4 ($160.00)
  • 2nd Weekend Apr 14 & 15 ($100.00)
  • 3rd Weekend Sept 8 & 9 ($100.00)
Each team needs one coach with at least the first 2 weekends and completion of the online Making Ethical Decisions exam or an old level 2 to participate in a Pee Wee A or Bantam A provincials. After the first 2 weekends, if you pass, you are a “trained” coach, you need to pass the 3rd weekend to become a certified coach. You don’t need level 1 to take level 2.

Former Lazer named to NCAA Div III All-American Team

Former Lazer, Sydney Marquardt, who won Westerns with the 2005 Bantam A team, made the All-American team and Capital One Academic All-American team with a batting average of .471 and GPA of 3.56. See the story.

Former Lazer Pitches Perfect Game for WNCC

Lazer alumnus Ashton Hughes, who won Provincials with the Lazers 2006 Provincial Champion Bantam A team, threw a perfect game for Western Nebraska Community College. See story.
