Extra Hitting Day added for Lazers Winter Camp, Archived 30 Jan 2012
The Core Ritchie Neighbourhood Centre Gym has been booked on Saturday January 28th. The purpose will be to build on the hitting instructions from the January 15th and January 22nd sessions. This year, the Lazers will be holding a Fall evaluation for the 2012 softball season.
Date: Sunday, September 11th, 2011
Location: RMSL Diamonds - Broad St. & 9th Ave. N.
Time: Squirt (born in 2000 & 2001) - 10 AM to Noon
Pee Wee (born in 1998 & 1999) - 1 PM to 3 PM
Bantam (born in 1996 & 1997) - 4 PM to 6 PM
To register simply email
with the player's name & date of
birth.
There will be no financial commitment required or obligation to play in
spring by attending this evaluation.
We welcome anyone who is interested in softball to attend so previous
players are welcome to bring a friend.
Players will need to bring their glove & a water bottle, bats & helmets will be provided.
The Lazers will be holding one evaluation in the Winter (early Spring) as well.
We are asking at this time for volunteers to help with the evaluations. Please indicate the volunteer's name & times available.

Regina Minor Softball and Gold Medal Softball are jointly sponsoring developmental camps on April 30th. Gold Medal Softball will be conducting two camps:- a catching clinic for Squirts or Pee Wees who have never had formal instruction in catching
- a hitting clinic open to Squirts and PeeWee players who want to refresh their hitting mechanics and basic hitting skills.
In order to provide follow-up and continuity of the instruction we are encouraging as many coaches as possible to participate. See the flyer for more information. Please register before April 25th.
Gold Medal Softball was founded by Dave Pearce, Field Manager of the Canadian Men's National team from 1982 to 1989, as well as renowned softball instructor. Among the Gold Medal organization's achievements was winning the 2010 Provincial Midget A championship. Several of the players from that team as well as other Gold teams will be instructing/helping at the camp based on Dave's plan and manuals."

These camps are designed to develop the skills of players who are interested in playing softball at a more competitive level and are a great opportunity for our players to stay "hands on" with softball in the off season - honing their catching, throwing and hitting techniques.- For Squirt Lazer players (born in 1997 or 1998), the camp runs from 7:00 to 9:00 pm Sunday evenings at St. Gabriel School. Have you considered volunteering for our Executive? Our zone is looking for Division Coordinators for Squirt, PeeWee and Bantam. Responsibilities include organizing evaluators, selecting head coaches and overseeing the team selections. The largest part of your job would occur the three or four weeks around evaluation time. for the Lazers zone this year. They have a long history with the Lazers zone,
coaching countless teams, running the Winter Gals camp from 2001-2007 that developed
the
skills of hundreds of Lazers over the years, and started the original Lazers
web site. They coached the first Lazers teams to win Gold Medals provincially
in
2002(Rick Bantam A, Geoff Squirt A) as well as the Bantam A team that won the
Western Canadian Championship in 2003.
Geoff served as Player/Development Coordinator from 2004-2006 and while serving
created
the
coaches
manual that
is currently
on the web site. He continues to coach in Regina Midget Softball and is on the
Bantam A Nationals committee. Rick continues to coach, assisting with last years
provincial champion Bantam B
team and
with
this years Bantam A team.
